You’ve been interviewing over a period of weeks with a possibly new employer and you’ve just been made a more than generous offer.
Everything “on paper” appears to make sense but there is someone gnawing at you and you can’t put your finger on it.
At this point hopefully you have shared with your significant other, your friends, your family about the change that you are about to make. If you are fortunate, what you typically hear back is “that seems like a great opportunity, I trust you that you’ll make the right decision.”
Although that is a nice and very supportive thing to say, it may not be what we want to hear.
For this author, if something is too good to be true, then heck it really must be too good to be true.
What’s the catch?
Let’s face it, we live in suspicious times. We are constantly bombarded with advertising, news, cable TV news pundits, emails, etc.
Back in the day, the world seemed like a more trusting place to live. It’s harder now because we have all the information we ever need within seconds by typing into google for answers.
So, again what is the catch??
Quite possibly, there may not be a catch. Maybe we can stop feeling a bit jaded about the things and people in our lives.
Especially in our work lives.
If an opportunity arises that seems too good to be true, then maybe that’s a good thing. Do some due diligence. Take your time. Ask hard questions, with respect.
And take your time. One should never rush or be coerced into making a career decision because of someone else’s time deadline.
So what is the catch?
Maybe you’re the catch.
